Roompot and Landal GreenParks to combine into a pan-European organisation
- Together, they will offer the most attractive and most diverse selection of holidays in Europe
- The companies have a highly complementary portfolio of parks on the coast and inland
- The transaction provides a springboard for further international growth
Goes and Den Haag, Thursday 17 June 2021 – Roompot and Landal GreenParks announce today their intention to combine their pan-European organisations to form the most attractive and most diverse selection of holiday parks in Europe. To do this, Roompot is to acquire Landal GreenParks from its current owner Awaze, a portfolio company of Platinum Equity. The transaction is subject to the usual conditions.
A very broad selection in Europe
While both holiday park operators are often mentioned together, their high-quality offerings are very different and remarkably complementary. Landal GreenParks has built up a strong portfolio with 100 holiday parks, primarily in Northern and Central Europe, especially in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic and Switzerland. Roompot's high-quality portfolio currently consists of over 200 parks and holiday locations in Central and Southern Europe, namely in Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Spain.
With the proposed acquisition, the organisation will be able to offer the most diverse and attractive options across Europe to holidaymakers.
On the coast, on the water, in the forests and in the mountains
Across Landal GreenParks and Roompot’s current portfolio of parks, both organisations are able to attract guests with a very different but high-quality offer at a variety of locations.
The two are also complementary in terms of the types of accommodation provided to guest. Their carefully designed range of products extends from spacious camping grounds to luxury designer villas and from tiny houses to beach villas.
By combining both of their options, guests will enjoy the broadest selection of types of holidays, from a delightful beach holiday to a fantastic winter sports holiday and from a fun time in the forests to an unforgettable summer holiday in Southern Europe.
Strengthening and accelerating sustainability
The organisation will use the experience and knowledge that Landal GreenParks has in sustainability to further strengthen and accelerate its sustainability targets in areas such as CO2 and waste reduction.
Digitalisation and project development
Further, Roompot will use its expertise in digitalisation and project development to develop the current Landal GreenParks locations more quickly.
Confidence from both management teams
The management boards of Roompot and Landal GreenParks are enthusiastic about working together on the further expansion of this pan-European organisation, which combined would have approximately 300 parks and 32,000 accommodations in 11 countries.
Jurgen Van Cutsem, CEO of Roompot and CEO designate of the combined group, isdelighted with the proposed acquisition. “Landal GreenParks is a leading player with a strong track record and a very attractive portfolio. We see considerable potential for international growth in the joint development of our activities as a developer, operator, lessor and seller of holiday homes, parks and locations. I want to thank Dirk for the great work he has delivered at Landal GreenParks in recent years. Together with the whole Roompot team, I already welcome all future colleagues of Landal GreenParks and I look forward to the further development of our organisation, which will focus on hospitality and sustainability. In this highly fragmented European market, there is no single organisation that offers guests the same quality and a consistent service level across Europe, regardless of the destination. With our complementary offer, we can now develop an even more attractive, varied, high-quality and sustainable holiday offer in Europe. Our guests and all holidaymakers in general need a provider that can offer them all the assurances and comfort they need.”
Dirk Anbeek, CEO of Landal GreenParks, says: I am very proud of how we have been able to strengthen Landal in the past three years. Landal GreenParks has already distinguished itself in sustainability and guest service and has seen strong commercial growth. There has also been accelerated international expansion with high-quality destinations. I thank Platinum Equity and everyone working at Landal GreenParks and Awaze for their tremendous efforts over the past years, and for what has been achieved. We believe in a step forward for Landal GreenParks and further strengthening our rental options by joining with Roompot. I'm enthusiastic about the combination and look forward to a successful future for everyone involved.”
Multiple offices in Europe
With the creation of the pan-European organisation, the company will retain regional distribution of employees and will deploy talent optimally across markets. To do this, the organisation will have multiple offices in the Netherlands as well as regional offices abroad.
The acquisition of Landal GreenParks by Roompot is subject to the usual conditions. Both Roompot and Landal GreenParks have made a constructive start on the consulting process with both works councils in the Netherlands. Financial terms are not disclosed.
